The Education Trust in New York (ETNY) seeks a Policy Analyst to join a passionate staff who are committed to fulfilling a mission of closing opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income families.
The Policy Analyst provides expertise in researching, analyzing, and writing policy that improves education equity, access, and outcomes. This position monitors and responds to state and local education policy activities and engages with policymakers, coalition partners, and researchers to support bill proposals and policy priorities in alignment with Ed Trust’s issue areas. The role also collaborates to develop and disseminate reports, briefs, or other materials advancing our policy priorities, and provides logistical support for the ETNY team. The position also plays a key role in supporting the team to build and maintain relationships with coalition and external partners to advance educational equity in New York.

This role, available immediately, is based in our New York office and is eligible for telework for up to 3 days per week. The Analyst reports to the Deputy Director.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The responsibilities and objectives for the role include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Conduct research and data analysis (both quantitative and qualitative), bill or policy analysis, and literature reviews related to education, remedying disparities in opportunity to learn, and improving student outcomes
- Manage and execute projects that identify and/or elevate promising policies to advance educational equity
- Share and elevate findings publicly with various audiences--including the media, advocates, and policymakers -- that inform and align with Ed Trust’s policy priorities of eliminating educational disparities and enhancing student outcomes
- Draft written statements, letters, reports, briefs, blogs, and other resources to further inform policymakers, educators, journalists, and other public audiences of Ed Trust’s agenda
- Support the development of research concepts that can be used for existing and new work
- Liaise with coalition partners to support relationships and coalition goals by regularly communicating with partners and supporting partner K-12 priorities
- Collaborate to support the organization’s strategic and annual goals, specifically around helping to ensure that Ed Trust’s policy recommendations reach equity advocates and policymakers
- Participate in coalitions with diverse stakeholders, including members from the business and civil rights communities, education equity organizations, policymakers, state-based and grassroots organizations and educators to advance equity goals
- Support advocate learning experiences (e.g., Ed Trust's semi-annual bootcamp and frequent webinars and presentations) by prepping materials and ensuring logistics are in place
- Coordinate and track outreach efforts for a portfolio of education issue areas (e.g., teacher diversity and early childhood education), and track the success of such efforts, including liaising with other Ed Trust teams
- Stay current and knowledgeable on organizational priorities and recent research from Ed Trust and our partners

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in education, public policy/administration, or a related field
- Familiarity with education policy
- Demonstrated experience developing bill or policy recommendations based in data and research
COMPENSATION
This position falls in Level B of our salary structure for our New York office, which has a range of $58,970 to $88,450. Offers will be commensurate with experience. New hires typically fall between the minimum and mid-point of the range.
The Education Trust prioritizes the health and well-being of its employees and, to that end, offers a highly competitive benefits package.
