EdTrust seeks a digital communications intern to join a staff that is committed to fulfilling our mission of closing opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income backgrounds.
The intern will support EdTrust’s digital communications team to help with various tasks regarding our new website, branding, and social media. The intern will be involved in the planning and execution of social media, online content, and other editorial duties as requested.
EdTrust is committed to advancing policies and practices to dismantle the racial and economic barriers embedded in the U.S. education system. Through our research and advocacy, EdTrust improves equity in education from preschool through college, engages diverse communities dedicated to equity and justice, and increases political and public will to build an education system where all students will thrive.
This role, available immediately, is based in our Washington, DC office and is part-time (25 hours/week) for less than 5 months (dates negotiable). Interns must reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia during the internship and report to the EdTrust office within 3 days of hire for employment verification. The Intern reports to the Editorial Director and will serve as a member of the EdTrust Communications team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in learning the backend of how websites operate, how social media is executed, and how a high-performing communications team functions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Shared belief in EdTrust’s mission and a commitment to improving education equity with a focus on racial equity
- Recent graduate with or a college student working toward a bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Some experience with content management systems (such as WordPress) or HTML is desired but not mandatory
- Some experience with social content management systems such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Mailchimp, Wix, or other similar platforms is desired by not mandatory
COMPENSATION
The pay for this role ranges from $19-$30/hr. We do not negotiate on intern pay in order to maintain equity within our intern pay scale; pay rates for internships are primarily determined based on level of education. Sick leave is accrued in this role.
