The Education Trust (Ed Trust) seeks a Senior Finance Analyst in its Finance Division. The Senior Finance Analyst will join a staff who are committed to fulfilling our mission of closing opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income backgrounds.
This role supports the Finance Department and the broader organization on budgeting and financial planning and analysis. This role will execute on complex tasks and projects to support financial reporting, planning, and budgeting processes, with primary responsibilities including tracking and analysis of financial data, as well as preparing and presenting related reports and materials. This role is ideal for a creative thinker who has the adeptness to work autonomously, to generate key insights, and to contribute to a mission-oriented organization dedicated to increasing equity in public education.

Available immediately and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role is based in our Washington, DC office and is eligible for telework for up to 3 days per week per our current policy.
ABOUT THE SENIOR FINANCE ANALYST ROLE
The responsibilities and objectives for the role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Collaborate with the CFO to prepare short-term and long-term financial plans, budget and financial reports, funder reports and other briefing materials
- Analyze financial-related data, identify trends, and develop recommendations to improve the organization’s fiscal efficiency and health
- Perform analysis of monthly financial results, including budget vs. actuals, run rates, etc.,
- Develop data dashboards, multi-year financial forecasting models, and other planning tools
- Conduct surveys, research, data analysis, and revenue and expense forecasting
- Prepare financial reports and other ad hoc analysis for senior leadership and Board of Directors
- Support the annual budget preparation and development process
- Manage the Finance Department’s knowledge management system, including Teams channels, shared drive, intranet, etc.
- Collaborate across teams on budgeting, development, grants management, and other activities

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in a finance-related field, such as business, accounting, mathematics or economics
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Excel and PowerPoint (or similar software) for analysis
- Demonstrated experience in nonprofit budgeting, financial reporting, planning, and analysis
- Understanding of budgeting and accounting principles and practices, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Experience using cloud-based or other accounting software to generate reports and analyze data
COMPENSATION
This position falls in Level C of our salary structure for our Washington, DC office., and the new hire salary range is $65,680 to $82,100. Offers will be commensurate with skills, experience, and internal equity.
