Program Description:
The Communications and Marketing Department creates compelling content to elevate and position the Aspen Institute as a values-based organization that ignites human potential through dialogue, leadership, and action to build understanding and create new possibilities for a better world. The department also serves as an in-house agency that provides communications and marketing support to the Institute’s 40+ programs, initiatives, public events, fundraising efforts, and the president’s office. Basic Function:
The Marketing Associate will pilot a professionalized marketing to conversion strategy within the Aspen Institute that will set up the organization for scaled growth in the future. They will manage and maintain the Institute’s automated marketing software and work closely with the Executive Seminars Department to support revenue generating opportunities with our Custom Seminars services. This position may also support the development of and use cases for an Institute-wide CRM and marketing automation system. This full time position is term limited and is expected to last through December 31, 2024.Â
Goals & Objectives Include:

Develop and nurture the sales-to-marketing pipeline, increasing lead conversion rates towards executive education offerings.

Execute effective email marketing campaigns that engage and educate the target audience.

Collaborate on content marketing initiatives to grow the Aspen Institute's audience.

Maintain and improve data accuracy and consistency across marketing and sales systems.
The expectation for non-remote roles is to be in our Washington, DC, New York or Aspen office a minimum of two times a week to collaborate with colleagues.Â

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
MarketingÂ

Execute and oversee email marketing campaigns, including segmentation, email list growth, content creation, and A/B testing, to drive engagement and interest in Aspen Institute programs.

Collaborate with the Director of Business Development to align marketing efforts with sales goals, monitor campaign performance, and provide insights to optimize conversion rates.

Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to create and promote content marketing initiatives that resonate with the target audience.
Lead Generation and Qualification

Manage and optimize the Pardot/Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement marketing automation system to support the marketing-to-sales pipeline, ensuring efficient lead generation and nurturing.

Develop and execute lead generation strategies, including targeted email campaigns, content marketing initiatives, and online advertising, to attract prospective participants for executive education and leadership development programs.

Implement lead scoring models and lead nurturing workflows within Pardot/Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement to prioritize and qualify leads based on engagement levels, demographics, and behavior, ensuring the sales team focuses on high-potential prospects.
Insights and Data Management

Maintain a clean and organized database of leads, contacts, and prospects in Pardot, regularly updating and segmenting lists to facilitate personalized marketing efforts and enhance lead qualification processes.

Develop and maintain a high-quality email list through strategic audience segmentation, data management, and list hygiene practices.

Implement and analyze email marketing KPIs to measure campaign effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and report results to the Managing Director of Marketing and Communications.

Utilize Salesforce and Salesforce Marketing Cloud to integrate marketing efforts, track leads, and ensure data consistency between systems.

Manage Campaign Monitor, WordPress, and Google Analytics for tracking and reporting purposes, and adapt to other marketing tools as necessary.

Stay updated on industry best practices, trends, and new technologies in email marketing, marketing automation, and lead generation.
Knowledge, Education, and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field 3 to 6 years of experience in email marketing, marketing automation, and campaign management.

Proficient in Pardot or similar marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Marketto required).

Experience with Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Campaign Monitor, and Google Analytics is highly preferred.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Knowledge of executive education is a plus, but not mandatory.
