Director of Individual Giving

As the Director of Individual Giving, you will play a meaningful role in driving contributed revenue for Code.org, focusing on encouraging and stewarding a growing community of individual supporters with significant gift capacity. You will be able to identify and solicit new prospects to secure new revenue to support Code.org’s mission and strategic vision. Your primary focus will be initiating and encouraging relationships with generous donors to raise significant contributions, guided by standard methodologies in prospect research and donor cultivation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will:
- Lead the individual giving programs, including major gifts and annual giving, and implement direct response email and mail campaigns.
- Work closely with the Founder and CEO, members of the Board of Directors, and the Executive Team, as needed, to cultivate, engage, and steward donors and prospects.
- Expand our support base of high-capacity individuals, continuously exploring new ways to uncover opportunities and align donor and prospect interests with organizational priorities.
- Develop and implement comprehensive donor stewardship strategies and practices to strengthen relationships with existing individual donors, including opportunities to engage donors locally or regionally.
- Craft effective communications and collateral, including emails, pitch decks, letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports to potential and existing donors, persuasively conveying our organization’s mission, programs, and impacts.
- Build an efficient and reliable system for maintaining relationships with prospects and supporters, ensuring customized, timely communication and follow-up, and proactively providing visibility for the Code.org Development team.
- Ensure timely reporting to donors on the impact of their contributions by running your portfolio's pledge calendar.
- Ensure fundraising and donor information related to your portfolio is current, and maintain Salesforce records, reports, and dashboards.
- Drive prospect and donor engagement opportunities, including special events and participation in Code.org programs, collaborating with team members across the organization as needed
- Other development duties, as assigned.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
We seek candidates who have:
- 5+ years of fundraising or business development experience is required. To be successful, you should also have:
- A genuine curiosity about our mission and an ability to encourage others to get involved.
- Strong networking, presentation, and relationship-building expertise
- A reputation for being a strategic problem solver, highly analytical, self-motivated, meticulous, and highly organized.
- Experience securing 6-7 figure deals or donations, including new annual and multi-year commitments.
- Ability to write proposals clearly and compellingly, with a history of success.
- Creativity to uncover new opportunities to build and maintain a robust pipeline.
- Skills to thrive in a collaborative, team environment and also work independently.
- Outstanding communication and highly developed social skills with the ability to be persuasive in written and verbal communication.
- Thoughtful and robust customer service orientation.
- Good judgment and professional, skilled engagement with high-net-worth individuals.
- Proficiency in using online databases (Foundation Center and others) and other sources to research potential funding prospects.
- CRM database experience, Salesforce preferred.
You must understand budgets related to proposals and have a high level of digital literacy. You should have proficiency in working with Google Docs and Microsoft Office and be willing and able to travel up to 20% of your time.
In addition, candidates must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Pass a pre-employment background check
- Be willing to travel a minimum of two times per year for team events

All interviews are currently being conducted virtually via Zoom

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS PACKAGE
The expected salary range for this position is $115,000 - $120,000. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, and skillset.
