Join an organization at the forefront of improving health by transforming care through Centering® groups

Senior Director of Development

General Description

Centering Healthcare Institute (“CHI”) is a non-profit organization that collaborates with healthcare providers across all sectors to transform healthcare. Our mission is to improve health, transform care, and disrupt inequitable systems through the Centering group model. We empower patients, strengthen patient-provider relationships, and build communities through three main components: health assessment, interactive learning, and community building.

We are dedicated to creating a future where the risk of preterm birth, the inequities faced by Black women in pregnancy-related outcomes, and the disparities in early childhood are significantly reduced—ensuring that every child has the potential to enjoy better life chances, social and economic opportunities, and overall well-being. With over two decades of experience as the leading resource for group care, we have developed and sustained the Centering model in nearly 500 practice sites and some of the largest health systems in the world.

CHI is seeking a remote Senior Director of Development. The Senior Director of Development role is Centering Healthcare Institute’s inaugural opportunity for a proactive, energetic, and thoughtful leader who excels in relationship-building and has a proven track record of building impactful and innovative partnerships to implement the vision, strategy, and management of the organization’s philanthropy programs.

Centering Healthcare Institute is investing in a three-year strategic plan to double the capacity of its workforce to catalyze growth and impact in promoting holistic, unbiased care for birthing individuals and their newborns. With an emphasis on organizational sustainability and the goal to deliver national and systemic step-change scale through Centering’s group-care methodology, the Senior Director of Development is responsible for growing and cultivating a nascent philanthropic portfolio. The SDD will grow and cultivate a pipeline of individual donors, corporations, and government agencies to secure charitable contributions in support of CHI’s mission while working directly with the Chief Development Officer to expand CHI’s fundraising base through expanding support with new and existing institutional funders, achieving an annual philanthropic fundraising goal of two million dollars.

In addition to focusing on securing significant and transformational gifts through strategic relationship management, the Senior Director of Development works closely with the Chief Development Officer and the Communications and Marketing team to develop, test, and scale annual fundraising appeal strategies, including but not limited to, digital fundraising, giving circles and societies and planned gifts.

The Senior Director of Development serves as a trusted advisor to the Chief Development Officer and the Development team, working to expand the internal and external culture of philanthropy at CHI and continuing to build on the organization’s efforts to forge a comprehensive development program that meaningfully engages existing donors and attracts new supporters.
