ABOUT THE ROLE

The Impact Team is tasked with designing and implementing impact measurement frameworks across AL institutions, overseeing short and long-term studies to assess our progress in developing three million ethical, entrepreneurial, leaders, in Africa, coordinating the collection of impact data from teams at African Leadership Academy, African Leadership University, and the Room, and analyzing results to produce key insights to share across the Group and with our partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring and evaluation frameworks - Support the development of theories of change and monitoring and evaluation frameworks for our different education and training models.
  • Data collection and analysis - Manage the design and execution of survey instruments and other data collection tools, monitoring and evaluation systems, dashboards, and evaluation approaches
  • Research - Research innovative econometric evaluation techniques, new measurement frameworks, and data collection and analysis techniques. Advise on sampling and advanced statistical evaluation techniques
  • Reporting - Manage the development of our annual Impact Report, written reports, and presentations to illustrate our impact story to external audiences
  • Impact communications - Manage a story-telling system across ALG that reflects the experience of students and alumni, disseminating stories through creative media and channels, coordinate the development of impact-focused websites.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, or related fields, with experience in econometrics and inferential statistics.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in monitoring and evaluation, including quantitative and qualitative data analysis, M&E framework development and executive, and managing research projects.
  • Strong quantitative impact evaluation skills with the ability to collect, clean and analyze data using advanced statistical methods, and disseminate results with accuracy
  • Proven experience with developing impactful data visualizations
  • Very good knowledge of R/STATA or Python
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into writing-based deliverables (e.g. briefs, analytical reports, blog posts, and more) and presentations
  • Self-directed, motivated, energetic, creative, and a problem solver
  • The ability to manage multiple responsibilities with competing deadlines
  • Phenomenal attention to detail

PREFERRED

  • Master’s in related field
  • Experience in data science and machine learning analysis
