About African Leadership Academy
African Leadership Academy (ALA) seeks to transform Africa by identifying, developing, and connecting a new generation of young leaders who will lead the continent towards lasting peace and shared prosperity for all. Since our inception in 2008, we have worked to lay the foundations of this audacious mission by identifying and developing a group of exceptional young leaders who will work together to shape Africa’s future.
About Africa Career Networks and the new Affiliates Program
Since 2012, the Africa Career Networks (ACN) program at ALA has enabled students and alumni of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program and African Leadership Academy (ALA) to access transformative early-career opportunities and accelerate their progression to impact. Partnerships with various foundations and supporters have allowed ACN to build 7 growing, pan-African career networks focused on key economic sectors - Education, Health, The Arts, Agribusiness, Infrastructure, Governance and Professional Services. Our network-theory-driven approach has facilitated powerful social impact collaborations among our young leaders and connected them to over 5000 internships and full-time job opportunities. However, ACN’s impact potential has been challenged by gaps in geographic and demographic reach. To solve this, we are introducing an Affiliates Program, where we will partner with and enable 15 other NPOs to augment our reach and inclusivity. This program will include deploying ACN Campus Ambassadors and peer coaches, through whom we can improve awareness at partner universities of the opportunities available through ACN and recruit more program participants for our programs.
Position Overview
We are looking for a dynamic Affiliates Program Manager to recruit and provide ongoing support to 15 affiliate organisations that must add capacity and reach ACN through their career development capabilities and connections to employers. These 15 Affiliates must be empowered with the necessary resources to not only recruit 6000 Mastercard Foundation Scholars to ACN over the next 5 years but also facilitate job and internship opportunities for them – providing any necessary training and support.
This role has the exciting task of building the Affiliate and Ambassador programs from scratch and developing the necessary relationships and activities with the support of a program associate, and education consultant. They will be responsible for grant budget management, sub-grant management and the disbursement of funds, as well as running the ambassador program through a network marketing (affiliate marketing) lens and facilitating the technology requirements of the Affiliates as needed. The program manager will also inherit ACN's peer coach program.

You will own the budget and planning responsibilities for your three programs, meeting your reporting requirements on time and with excellence.
